THE BIBLE –DISCOVERY YEAR O7
WITH LUKE’S GOSPEL
 COMMENT FOR EASTER 2 –15-04-07
Revelation 1: 4-8
The writer uses the style of a formal letter to explain the story of Jesus as the revelation of God which humanity has needed since the dawn of time. He follows the wonderful search of the Hebrew people which fulfilled their hopes in an unexpected way, being the first born of the new humanity through the resurrection. Hence all things, even human history, are in the hands of the one who begins and can end the human story.
Psalm 150
We can imagine this Psalm being used in the festival liturgy of the Temple.  It is a conclusion and climax of all the Psalms with one message –praise to the Spiritual Power that is God.  Like a symphony, with diverse instruments representing diverse parts of creation, it builds to a magnificent finale with “everything that breathes” joining in the praise of God.
Acts 5: 27-32
This little passage gives the early teaching of the disciples on the crucifixion and the resurrection.  Their clear conviction and acceptance of the risks have all the marks of the spiritual power of these events.  The disciples here stood in front of the religious authorities whom they now saw as ordinary people, and declared their obedience to God as a higher authority.  That is the very basis of reformist theology.
John 20: 19-21
This vivid little story describes an evening meeting on that resurrection day – the locked doors and the fear.  But as the disciples talked of what they had discovered Jesus was there among them and took over the conversation.  Consider first that when you really focus on what you understand of Jesus, he will be there to take you further; and the Peace he gives is not just for private enjoyment but for sharing.
