THE BIBLE – DISCOVERY YEAR 07 WITH LUKE’S GOSPEL
COMMENT FOR TRINITY SUNDAY ---03-06-07 
Proverbs 8: 1-4, 22-31 
We meet “Lady Wisdom” in the heart of the city’s commercial centre as she appeals to people to enjoy being alive.  This spiritual being was created first and understands the delight of the architect as everything in creation comes right. We meet her today as we share and care for each other, and practice conflict resolution – thus avoiding the stupidities of conflict, hate and war.
Psalm 6 
This must have been a popular Psalm with the people of the Covenant.  It is a genuine response of joy, not so much as care for the Hebrew people only but as an intelligent people able to wonder at the mysteries of the solar system. Even the newest human creatures, babies, understand and share the joy (see Matthew 21:16).  So the Hebrew God is caring and guiding as the Creator God of all existence.
Romans 5: 1-5 
The personality of Paul and his own personal experience is embedded in this passage.  He once believed in the God he found in the Law of Moses.  Now with utter conviction he believes in the God he found through Jesus Christ.  This resolved his questions, gave him a deep sense of peace, and enabled him to work along with his Creative God for a love-directed future.  The power of the Spirit is at work in his endurance - hope.
John 16:12-15 
As John wrote these words he would remember Jesus trying to persuade his disciples not to worry.  He told them the Spirit of Truth would be their guide, and encouraged them to work with the creative energies of the loving God. Of course the disciples were anxious.  But for us today one of the things this passage says is that today’s disciples should look for,  trust and enjoy the loving power of the Spirit of Truth.
