We come, to be guided in the ways of God's truth, to experience the joy of God's salvation. We come, at the beginning of our Lenten journey, aware of God's steadfast love helping us to overcome the trials and temptations which can descend on us at any time. Lead us, O God, to do what is right in your eyes and teach us to follow the humble way of Christ, your beloved Son, our crucified and risen Lord. Amen. We have not loved you with our whole heart, and mind and strength. We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We have not forgiven others, as we have been forgiven. We have been deaf to your call to serve as Christ served us. We have not been true to the mind of Christ. We have grieved the Holy Spirit. Have mercy on us, Lord.
